Hello, I'm Amy Murray

Licensed associate therapist and kid enthusiast, here to light up young faces with affirmation, hope and a sprinkle of therapy magic!

Born and raised in New Orleans, I moved to Texas for my college education at Southern Methodist University in Dallas before earning my Master of Social Work from the University of Houston. My career began working with children and teens. Life circumstances intervened, leading me to temporarily leave the social work field for the corporate world so that I could support my daughter as a single mother after a divorce. Fast forward 18 years: dropping my daughter off as a freshman at college marked a turning point in my life. Shortly after, I met the love of my life, got married, relocated to the Pacific Northwest, and decided to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a licensed therapist and life coach.

On a personal note, my passion and dedication to helping teens cope with emotional challenges began at home. At just 11 years old, my daughter was diagnosed with a major anxiety disorder, exhibiting symptoms such as self-harm, angry temper outbursts, depression, and panic attacks.

Witnessing her struggle was heartbreaking, prompting me to seek help from a therapist, who provided invaluable parent coaching, stress management techniques, behavior modification strategies, and life coaching skills to teach my daughter. I also immersed myself in a wealth of parenting literature, reading numerous books that offered the latest evidence-based treatments for helping children with anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues.

Through implementing the techniques that I learned, and utilizing newfound parenting skills, I witnessed remarkable improvement in my daughter’s anxiety within a mere two weeks. The coping mechanisms I taught her and the parenting strategies I employed transformed both of our lives for the better. Today, she thrives as a successful college student, free from anxiety, and living with passion, joy, and resilience.

My personal success story is a testament to the effectiveness of these approaches, fueling my unwavering commitment to helping other teens navigate life’s challenges. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our blended family, including our four grown children and beloved dogs, Beau and Blue. My interests include a wide array of activities, from reading and research to running, hiking, and exploring the breathtaking landscapes of the Pacific Northwest—a region I’m proud to call home.

(Note: I am a Licensed Social Worker Associate Independent Clinical (LSWAIC) and a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDPT) licensed in the state of Washington. I am currently working towards obtaining the Licensed Independent Clinical Social Work (LICSW) licensure under approved supervision.)
